A data-driven analysis of sun exposure across 912 London pubs for every day of the year, using geometric 3D raytracing.

Our Methodology
Unlike weather apps that predict cloud cover, our data measures geometric sun exposure — the maximum possible sunlight each pub's outdoor area can receive on a clear day. We use 3D raytracing to simulate the sun's path across the sky.
For each pub, we simulate 168 five-minute time slots (9am to 11pm) across all 366 days of the year.
Our data shows the theoretical maximum sun each pub can get based on its geometry and surroundings — not actual weather conditions. We measure sunshine minutes: the number of minutes per day where at least 50% of the outdoor area receives direct sunlight, assuming clear skies.
